MELBOURNE, December 23. Mr Justice Hnggins has varied the Adelaide Tramway Company's agreement slightly in favour of tho men. Tho Brisbane and Adelaide awards will operato from January Ist next.

SYDNEY, December 23. Tho long-standing dispute botwoen the Newcastle Shipping Company and the Wharf Labourers' Union has been settled, the Company reverting to the engagement of casual hands. AN EIGHT-HOUR DAY.
