Eighty men faced the starler, and j a very exciting contest resulted. M. Rioruan, , who rodo a very tine ruoo off the 3j minute mark, and put up a go?d sprint at the finish, beat. H. Hazelhurst by a length, with O. Louden third. A. George put up fastest I time off the minute mark, do*ng the journey j in 43min 7sec —a very creditable performance, j Tho race was the first of « scries of four for a silver roso bowi as first prize, for most pomt 3 , and a cup for second prize.
