DOMAIN FETE.
PRELIMINARY MEETING
A preliminary meeting of thoso interested in the forthcoming Domain Feto was held at tho City Council Chamber yesterday afternoon, Mr H. J. Beswiek, chairman of tho Domain Board presiding. Tho Chairman suggested that a small sub-committee should bo set up to bring forward proposals to be submitted to the noxt general meeting. If possible new proposals should bo submitted for it was uncertain whether all tho old attractions would bo available again. It was important that as many novelties as possible should bo put on on tho day of tho Fete, for it was tho desire of the committee to give the people a good afternoon's entertainment. The following were appointed an executive committee:—Messrs J. J. Collins, J. F. Grierson, Macgregor Wright, J. R. Evans, F. C. B. Bishop, Captain McGee, together with members of the Domains Board. Tho Chairman stated that ho had received offers from ladies willing to tako charge of tho flower stall and the sweets stall, but there wcro all the other stalls which still required volunteers. It was resolved that the committee should meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, January 13th. Mr Nordon said ho would undertake to arrange, for the motor-car trip service. It was decided to hold an art union in connection with the Fcse, the prizes, to bo trips to Australia, Rotorua and Hanmer. It was also decided that the dato for the Feto should bo February 12th or 19th. Mr L. M. Isitt suggested that a putting match should be put on. ' Tho Chairman said. that putting competitions had formed a feature of the Domain Fetes in the past. Mr Isitt also suggested that a spectacular chess game snould be organised. The Chairman pointed out that it was inadvisable to put on too many attractions of a spectacular nature which would interfere with the operations of the revenue-earning enterprises.
