BLAZE IN DRUG FACTORY. • United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, December 18. A firo destroyed tho basement of the Australian Drug Company's premises in O'Connell street. A great quantity of valuable drug stock was destroyed', and tho damage is heavy. (Received December 18th, 9.45 p.m.) The Drug Company's insurances total £70,000. (PREiS ASSOCIATION TKLIOnAM.) CARTERTON, December 18. A fire at Clareville last night destroyed Mr S. A. Pull's store, granary and residence, and the local post office. Nothing was saved. The occupants escaped in their night attire down a blazing ladder. The origin o» the fire is unknown. The store was insured in the State office for £600, tho granary for £100, tho stock in the granary for £150, in the South British offico, and the stock of the store for £700. Tho post office and contents were insured for £100. The Fire Bricado was called to the residence of Mrs Lett, 168 Lichfield street, last night, to suoprees a fire in the washhouse. Damage to tho extent of about £4 was done. Earlier in the evening the Brigade turned out to a false alarm priven from tho box near the Fanners' Co-opcrattva Association. Just before two o'clock this morning tho Brigade received another call, bui, as tho fire was beyond the city boundary tho men returned to the station. Tlie alarm was given from the box at tho corner of Colombo street and Moorhouso avenue.
