INDIAN COOLIES FOR THE ARGENTINE.
9 NOT ALLOWED IN AUCKLAND. (SPECIAL TO "THE TRESS.") AUCKLAND, December 18. Thirty-seven Indians who arrived by tho Makura yesterday were the subjects of a lawsuit in Fiji, in connection with their engagement to work in the Argentine. Difficulty was experienced in conveying" them from Fiji to the Argentine, and the coolies sued Mr Berkeley for tho return of certain monies, but the Court held that Mr Berkeley only acted as solicitor, not as broker. Being prohibited immigrants they were not allowed to land here, and ■were transhipped to the Navua. which is proceeding direct to Wellington, where thoy will be transhipped for the Argentine. When the Indians get to Wellington they will again be unable to land, and arrangements have been made to house them on a hulk in the harbour until next week, when they will sail on a Home-going boat which is calling at the Argentine port.
