VISIT OF AITSTRALLVX SWIMMERS.
The Executive of the Canterbury Centre met last evening, when final arrangements were made for the Carnivals to be held in the Municipal Baths on Boxing Night «ad Monday. December 30th. The loam of Australian swimmers, viz., Solomons, Hoy, and Roddington. are reported to be in capital form, and with warmer water than haa been found in tho Xorthern cities, these swimmers should be successful in putting up somo fast times.

■the committee of the Canterbury Centre of the Royai Life-Saving Society met last night. Mr K. Bassett presided. a letter received from Timaru stcted that efforts •were being made to form o branch of the Society there. In rcplv to the Society's request for a grant, the Town Clerk wrote stating that tho matter wm receiving tho attention of the Mayor. Messrs Anderson, benwartz, Collins, and Sears wero appointed patrolmen at the Sumner Gala, and Messrs iryent'. Ceokson, Souter, aad Drake were appointed for the Xew Brighton
