ACCIDENT TO THE PATEENA.

While going between Pio'on and Nelson on Monday night, the Union Steam Ship Company'e Pateena touched Pig Island. At the timo it waa known that very little damage had resulted, for tho vessel was not leaking, and the journey waa continued. On arrival at Wellington on Wednesday morning the' Pateena wee eurveyed, and the Union Company states that no damage to tho ship's bottom was discovered. Captain Wateon was in charge of the Palcena at tho timo. Yesterday the Collector of Customs held an enquiry into the accident, and tho report has been forwarded to tbo Marino Department. Captain D. Cameron, of- the Corinna, has taken charge of tie Pateena, and Captain Wateon is going to Dunediu in charge of the Corinna.
