A NEW COASTAL STEAMER

The new ooastal etcemer, Red Pine, lclt Greymouth on Wednesday night with a cargo of timber for Lytteiton; ar.dis due hero lato ' She ia owned by a West Coaat syndicate, and is a fino vescel of her does. She was built a few months ego in the yarde of Mr.R. Blackwall, N.S.W., and is 'he largest yeesol yet built in New South ■WaleaV. She is for the timber trade from tho port of Greymouth for various ports on the New Zoa'aifd coast. Her dimensioned are as followe:—Length b.p. 147 ft, length crver all 163 ft, moulded bread '.h 29ft, moulded depth IOH 9in, drought fiully loaded, about 9ft Gin. The boiler end main engines will be supplied and fitted by Mesara Wildridge and Sinclair, of Pitt street, Sydney. The machinery consists of a sot of compound eruriace condensing engiiies, with cylinders 16 and 33 in wiih 21in stroke. She will have a multitubu'arboiJer, vriih thioe lurnacee, the working boiler pressure being 1301b. Helical geared eteam wincios and a etcaui windlass will bo fitted. On completion the vessel will be fitted throughout .by Meows Warburton and , Frauki with electric liftht. The vessel hoe been built of-hardwood, with Oregon decks, and latest cargo d.eoharging gear. She haa a fore-peak ond tipping tanhe holding 20 tone, and two after tanke for fresh, water of lOtona each.
