THE KAFFIR REPORT.

(press association telegram.) AUCKLAND, September 28. Mr Rhodes, local manager of the Waihi Company, says that Mr Seinple'a statement regarding the employment of Kaffir miners is unfounded and farcical.

At a meeting of the Ashburton Branch of the General Labourers' Union, addresses were given by Mr A. Paterson (secretary of the Union) and EVIr P. Cook, on the Waihi and Reefton strikes. Resolutions of sympathy with the strikers and protesting against additional police being sent to Waihi were carried. It was decided to make a grant of £3 .to assist the Waihi strikers, and to make a similar grant at each business meeting so long as the strike lasted.
