CASUALTIES.
AX ELDERLY MAX'S MISHAP. At a little after 5 o'clock j-estcrday afternoon a man named Albert Hepburn, sixty-four years of age, who resides in Glandovey road; Fendalton. met with a, rather .eerious accident. Ho was driving, towards the Fendalton road from one of the roads which intersect at the Lismore stopping place, at tho corner of Holnrwood road and Fendalton road, when in endeavouring: to avoid another vehicle he collided with a tram car. He was thrown from his trap, and as it was seen that ho was injured, he was placed on board the tram car and taken direct to tho Hospital. At nino o'clock last evening it was learned there that he was suffering Geverely from shock and from concussion, but go far as could be ascertained no bones were broken. ' His injuries are not of a serious nature, but his condition ljvst night was regarded as being distinctly unsatisfactory. • (PBKSS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAMS.) FEILDING, August 12. , A caso of supposed suie'do occurred at Makino yesterday. John Frizzell, a farmer. 3P years of age. was found shot in the head with half his faco blown away; • He had been very despondent after a recent iUness. ■ AUCKLAND, August 12. A girl named Rushford was sent to the Hospital to-day from her rosidenco in Grey street. She was apparently suffering from I\tol poisoning. DUNEDIN, August 12. Christopher Robinson, aged 18 years, a son of Mr C. Robinson, farmer, of Lovell's Flat, committed suicide yesterday by hanging himself. The youth left a note, announcing that lie intended to hang himself, but said nothing about his reasons for contemplating the act.
