COUNTY COUNCILS.

KOWAI. A meeting of the Kowai County Council was held on Friday. It w-as resolved that the new footbridge over the Kowai, on Gray's road, should havo handrails erected on one side. It was decided that a general rate of three-farthings in the £ should be levied on the rateable value of tho rateable property in tho whole county for -the year ending March 31st. 1913. I" reply to Mr D. McAulay, it was decided to inform him that the Council considered that there was no necessity to open up a road line at the hack of his property. The Council considered at some length tho draft of by-laws to regulate traction engine haulage in tho County. The Surveyor reported that tho timber for the new Kowai bridge was now arriving at the railway station.
