ASHBURTON.

At tho monthly meeting of the Board of Managers of the Ashburton Technical Classes .Association, tho Chairman (Mr H. Davis) reported a debit balance to the general account of £120 6s Bd, and a credit to tho building account of £317 19s-3d. The Board of Education wrote forwarding a cheque for £386 19s for equipment, and stating that a further grant of £238 17s had been made. Mr John Grigg wroto stating that he intended to resign from the and suggesting that Mr J. B. Christian should be elected in his stead. It was decided to suggest that Mr Christian be appointed. It was' decided to hold a bazaar in October for tho purpose of raising money towards the building fund. Tho director complained of the conduct of some of the boys, and tho chairman and director were empowered to exnol in any cases where necessary. The Star of Ashhurton Loyal Orange Lodge, No. 23, held its annual dinner and social on Friday evening, when thero was a large attendance of brethren and sisters of the order present. Bro. G. W. Leadley, W.M., presided, and visiting brethren were present from Hinds, Courtenay, Christchurch, and Springburn. The Ashburton Loyal Orange Lodge held its annual church parade yesterday morning, when a largo muster of members of the Order assembled at the Orango Hall, and headed by the Temperance Band, marched to tho theatre, where they were joined by the members of tho women's lodge and a large number of the general public. A religious servico appropriate to the occasion was conducted by "the Rev. Bro. T. B. It. Woolloxall. Special hymns were sung, and the lesson was read by Bro. Carlisle. Bro. G. W. Leadley" W.M., delivered a short address on "The Aims and Objects of Orangeism." The Bey. Bro. Woolloiall then preached the sermon.
