ThackweJl, William Taylor, ftngu. Donaldson Welsh, and Huia Henrj Shaw were each fined os _nd costs on similar charges. Similar charges against Cameron G. Johnstone and Frederick Schoefield Wilkinson were withdrawn by leave of the Court. Gordon Stephen Mills, charged with refusing to take the oath of allegiance, did not appear, and was fined 40s, to be reduced to 5s if the oath is taken within seven days. Similar charges against James Samuel David Porter, Huia Henry Shaw and Frederick Shoefield Wilson were withdrawn by leavo of tho Court. Innis Durie Walker, charged with failing to render personal service, was represented by Mr Leathern, who. said his client had a medical certificate of unfitness. The case was adjourned until July 19th, so that a certificate | might be obtained from a military doctor. Thomas Alfred Laurence was similarly charged. He produced a medical certificate, which was not in order, and his ease was adjourned until July 19th. William Robert Godfrey, charged with failing, to tako the oath of allegiance, or to render personal service, did not appear. The case was adjourned until July 19th. LYTTELTON. (Before Mr G. C. Smith, J.P.). A STOWAWAY. Thomas Weir, charged with having travelled on the Mararoa from Welling- ! ton to Lyttelton without . paying his fare, and with intent to evade payment of the same, was convicted j and fined £1 and costs, and ordered to pay the amount of the faro.
