A free kick taken by Patterson enabled Christchurch to reverse the jvosition. and Button and Cook further improved the, IJeds' position, but off-skio ■ play enabled Linwood to clear their lino. Moore, Gniney. Jacobsen and Parksoo combined in a passing rush, off-sid; play agai'i spoiling the attempt Christchurch returned to the attack, and the Reds' txacks again indulged ir, a passing l>out. which only ended in a force. The Red forwards, led by Morgan and Brown, again placed Christchurch on the attack. A markby Taylor brought little relief, and Walters. Morgan and Saj>sford carried play to the Greens' goal-lino, a force eventually being registered. Play continued in Linwood.territory until Harvey, Empson and Lane removed it to Christchurch twenty-five. Play hovered in the contra for the remainder of tho first snell. and the teamls crossed'over with no ccoro.
