Owing to the cold and boisterous morning thero was only a moderate attendance at tho weekly stock rjalo held at tho Ashburton yards on Tuesday, and 1 the entry suffered likewise being about half that yarded last week, chiefly fats. The total yarding of sheep comprised 6795 as against 13,424 last week of theso 895 wore fat ewes, 250 fat wethers, 1448 fat,lambs, and 4f196 stores. The quality of ..the fat sheep yarded was good and competition ,was keen, and with the exception of two smail lines of wethera were sold, by auction at prices ruling at lato sales. Fat ewes mado up to 14s 2d; fat wethers to 20s, and fat lambs to 20s. Prices obtained were as "follow:—: Primo ewes 13s to 14s 2d, medium weights 10s 6d to lis lOd, light weights and inferior 7s 6d, to 10s. Prime wethers 16s to 16s 9d, extra heavy 20s, others 15s _10d, prime free-sing lambs 16s to 17s 7d extra.heavy 20s, medium weights 15s, light weights 14s Id to 14s 6d. The principal sales were ewes:—36 threo-quarterbreds 13s 9d, (53 do lis 6d. 62 do 13s 4d, 4Q 'do" He) lOd, 67 do. lis 6d, 164 do. lis, 63 do. lis 7d, 60 halfbreds lis 3d, 54 do lis, _7 do. 13s lid, 47 do. 10s 6d, 40 do., lis 4d, 35 do, 14s 2d, wethers 28 threequarterbreds 15s 6d to 16s sd. 22 do. 16s 3d, 22 do. 16s Id, 118 do. Lambs: 276 at 16s lOd, 42 at 14s 6d, lOy.at los, 47 at 14s Id, 50 at 15s lOd, f3l -at 16s 7d, 64 at 16s 6d, 50 ah 17.-4 ted,. 322 at 16s sd, 124 at 16s, 104 at 15s 4d, 118 at 14s 7d, 45 at 17S.6VLAlthough tho yarding of store sheep was 1800 short of last week's totals, tho demand was not so bright, and of the 4196 sheep yarded 1838 -were passed by auction. The lines sold were - chiefly sheep from ; the south, whlcli were sold-at bedrock prices. The principal sales wore 42 .three-qnarter-bred wether lambs 10s Id, 60 fullmouth halfbred ewes 6s Id, 108 full and failing-mouth halfbred ewes 7s 2d 21 two and four-tooth halfbred wethers12s 6d, 107 two-tooth three-ouartex-brod ewes 14s 4d, 300 halfbred "wether lambs lis 6d, 60 halfbred small lambs (mixed sexes) Bs, 173 sound-mouth halfbred ewes lis 2d, 225 do. 12s 4d, 200 six; eight and failing-mouth crossbred owes 13s lid, 502 do. at 13s 9d. 155* two, four, six and eight-tooth halfbred ewes 10s od, 397 two, four and sixtooth do. 13s Bd.
