WAIMAKARIRI WATER SUPPLY BOARD.
The first meeting of tho newly-elected members of tho Waimakariri-Ashlcy Water Supply Board was held on April 25th, when Mr M. J. Dixon was unanimously elected chairman. The Surveyor's report, which was approved, stated that during tho previous 28 days tho daily average depth of water on sill of intake at Brown's Rock headworks, had been 3ft 7in., and during the sauie period tho daily average supply passing the flume at Block cutting had been 2ft lin., giving a full and constant supply to tho irholo of tho district. Tho river remains in a favourable position, and the headrace is in good order. A great improvement has been made in many places in the running of tho races, owing to tho ratepayers responding to representations as to neglected races, and tho Ayeeds in main races beginning to decay, rendere the flow of water -easier. On April Ist, tho Oxford County"took over the management of Cooper's Creek Water Supply, and tho Board is relieved of any further responsibility in regard to Cooper's Creek subdivision. The secretary was requested to render an account to the Oxford County re Cooper's Creek debit balance, and also to write to the Bank of New Zealand and tho Commissioners of the Public Debts Sinking Funds, as to the transfer of tho debenturo of £2200 to the Oxford County. It was decided to prosecute a ratepayer if he did not immediately return a voucher belongingto the Board. The matter of a teamster was left to the surveyor, also the purchasing of a larger dray and tho sale of tho present one. The Board agreed to telephonic communication with tlu: headworks, as suggested by the Telograph Department, the secretary to put the matter in motion. It was also resolved to place concrete bridges ovor the big races, on the principal roads : n the district, commencing with the main race on Downs road.
