MALVERN.
The inclement weather which set in on Saturday night still continues. There was » slight lull on Monday, when tho wind shifted to the east for a few hours, but about 9 p.m. another sou'-weeter sprang up, bringing with it frequent squalis of icy rain. Ttrwards midnight a little snow foil, but soon melted. Throughout tho night and Tuesday quite a blizzard was experienced. Although the rain eased off early, tho wind 'was piorcinglv cold and unpleasant. A further .3o inch of rain was registered at Darfield. increasing tho month's total to 7.10 inches. Tho weather on the hills was exceptionally rough for the time of the year. Snow fell throughout Monday night and tho greater part of Tuesday. Ax soon as the weather clears it is expected there will be some nevero frosts.
