CHALLENGER REPORTS NO NEWS.
United Press Association—By Electric Tnlegraph—Copyright. (Received April 30th, 9.33 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 30. A wireless message received from H.M.S. Challenger says that she found no trace of tho dredge Manchester. Hope of her safety is being abandoned.
Mr D. J KelleW of Christchurcb, who was the chief engineer of the dredge Manchester when she came out to New Zealand, stated yesterday that on the voyage out bad weather was experienced in tho Bay of Biscay and elsewhere, and ho was satisfied that had it not been for the two air-t'ght compartments she wou.d never have boon kept afloat- Five dredges left England "at tho time the Manchester did and &ho was tho only one to get through the Bay of Biscay.
