Tho High Commissioner's cable, dated London, April 6th, supplies tho following quotations, which, unless otherwise specified, aro tho average market prices on the spot: — Mutton—The market is firm at last quotations, viz. (nominally), Canterbury 4gd, North Island 3id to 4Jd. Lamb—Tho market is steady, and prices aro well maintained. Beef—The market is quiet. Butter—Tho market is quiet, an.l prices aro slightly weaker; tho average prices for tho week were:—Choicest New Zealand butter 1245, Australian 120s, Siberian 120s, Danish 1295, Argentina 120s. Cheese—Tho market is steady; the averago prico for the week for finest New Zealand cbeeso was 745. Hemp—The market is very quiet, with nothing doing. Tho output from Manila for the week was 26,000 balCvS. Hops—Tho market is firm, with an improved demand for Now Zealanel hops. The prospects are favourable for early shipments. Wool—Tho market remains firm.
