(Before Captain R. F*tchwell. J.P., and Mr F. W. Andereon, J.P.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender was fined 5s and costs, in default twenty-four hours' iniprsonment, for drunkenness. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. William Urcnnan was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment for using obscene in the .street. On a charge of drunkenness ho was convicted and discharged, and he was similarly dealt with on a charge of damaging Government property by breaking a pane of g'ass value os. SCHOOL ATTENDANCE. Richard Oakley was charged with failing to send his three boys regularly to school. It was stated that the case had been adjourned for a month, and einco that time the boys lied attended school every day, and 'one had missed only half a day. The charge was with* dr\iv.ni'. ; (Before Mr F. W. Anderson, J.P.) DESERTION. Charles James Walton, who pleaded guilty to a charge of deserting from tho Tongariro on July 4th, 1911, said ho had left the ship on account of the drunkenness of tho other men in the forecastle. The master of the Kini, on which Walton has been serving for the past five months, gave him an excellent character. Captain Hatchwell said h:s company under the circumstances would not press the charge, and Walton was therefore convicted and discharged.
