Selina Childs (Mr Leathern) was charged with being an idle and disorderly person, in tliat sho had insu'ficient lawful means of support. She was ordered to come.up lor sentence when called upon, on tho understanding that sho would leave the house eho is at present occupying. THEFT AND FALSE PRETENCES. Frederick List pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing an overcoat, valued at £"-.' 10s. tho property of Hulbert and Co. Ho also pleaded «ruilty to attempting to obtain from Jack McGregor tho sum of £20 by falsely representing that he had a store at Invercargill. and that ho would appoint 31cGregor as manager on his paying that amount as rrcurity. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to bo cumulative. BROKEN PROHIBITION ORDERS. For a breach cf a prohibition order Reginald Overton Cookson Avas fined ~1 and costs 7s. Henry Albert Smith (Mr Salter) was charged with breaking a prohibition order '- entering licensed promises Mr Sr.i aid that defendant did not go on to tho premises for drink, but on business. A fino of os. and costs 7s, with the alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment wns inflicted. WITHDRAWN. B'nrkbtirn Bracewell (Mr M. Donnelly), on remand, was charged with attempting to leave New Zealand with tho intention of failing. without reasonable excuse, to make adequate provision for his wife and children. Mr Cassidy appeared for complainant. The caso wns withdrawn, by leave of the Court, it being stated that a settlement between the parties had been arrived at. MAINTENANCE. Thomas Henry Bransgrovc (Mr M. Donnelly) was charged with being £10 10s in arrears on a maintenance order for tiie payment of 30s a week towards tlio support of his wife. Mr Leathern appeared for complainant. Defendant was sentenced to threo months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended provided that he mid the 30s a week and 10_. a week of? the arrears. Mr Donnelly stated that defendant had declared to him that he was able and wilhng to pay thc amounts named. Edward Dyer, who did not appear, wk.~, charged with failing to maintain his wife. Mr M. Donnelly anpeared for conr-lainant. Dyer was ordered to my 2oc a week, and to £75 in Court as security, or to find equivalent security, in default six mont'is' imprisonment. A separation order , wa.s granted. Defendant was also ordered to pay costs, £1 Is.
