DELIVERY OF AWARDS.

•■ , DRIVEK-S' UNION. The following award lias been delivered by his Honour Mr Justice i>im in the case between the Canterbury Motor Car, Horse Drivers, and Livery St.-ibles Employees' Industrial Union ot Wdrkers (termed "the Union") and the Mayor, Councillors, and citizens of Christchurch (termed "the employer"): 1. Hours of Work.—(a) A week's work to be 49 hours for a driver driving and attending to one horse, and 51 hours for a driver driving and. attending to two horses, 'J he daily working hours shall bo regulatetl in advance according to the special requirements of the Council, but so the ordinary hours of work shall be made to fall between the hours of 7 am. and 7 p.m. on five days of the week and 7 a.nv. and VI noon" on Saturday, (c) The hours prescribed in clause 1 (a) hereof include time occupied in attendance to horses, cleaning harness, and washing vehicles, (d) All time worked beyond the hours prescribed m clause 1 (b) hereof shall bo counted overtime- (c) The Council shall provide a time-book in each stable in which each driver shall enter daily the total hours for which ho is entitled -to bo paid, and stating the overtime (it any). The foreman shall, within *■* hours, have the time verified and the book initialled. . 2. Wages.—A one-horse driver to receive not less than £2 9s per week, and a two-horse driver not less than £2 11s per week. 3. Holidays. —Drivers shall receive tho following holidays:—New Year's Day, Good Friday, .Caster Monday, King's Birthday, Labour- pay, Show Day, Anniversary Day, Christmas Day, I Boxing Day, and a full day to be set apart for' an annual picnic4. Overtime.—Overtime shall be paid for at the rate of not less than Is 6d per hour for all time worked beyond tho hours prescribed in clause 1 hereof, except tho time occupied in attendance on horses outside ordinary working hours shall be paid Is ljd per hour, fb) Any work done between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 am. ehall be paid 2s per hour with a minimum payment of 4s. For work done on Sundays, Christmas Day. or Good Friday drivers shall bo paid* 2s 6d .per hour. For work done on other holidays, drivers shall be pjjid Is §d. per hour, with a minimum Eaynient of 2s Gel- 'J he payments shall o in addition to tho weekly wages5. Payment of Wages.—Wages shall bo paid* weekly in cash, overtime included, on Friday, in the Central Yard, and not later than Saturday morning in any instance. 6. Terms of Engagement-—(a) In the case of workers other than casual hands a week's ■ notice of dismissal or of resignation shall be given by the Council or -employee, (b) In the event of an employee being suspended from duty for any cause, he shall have the right of appeal to the Works Committee before being dismissed from the Council's 'service. 7: Stable Attendance.—ln all stables where twelve or more horses are kept, ( the Council shall provide stable attendants, who shall do all stable work outside the driver's ordinary working hours, . also on Sundays and holidays- j 8- Preference.—Preference of employment shall be given to members of the Canterbury Drivers' Union. ' 9. Terms of Award.—This award shall come into force as from the 25th day of November. 1911, and shall remain in force until the 25th day of November. 1913. 10. vScope of Award- —This award shall bind only. tho parties named, herein.
