SOCIETY OF ARTS EXHIBITION.

PRESENTATION OF DIPLOMAS.

At the Canterbury Society of Arta exhibition last night, in the presence of a large attendance, the president (Mr Wm. Recce) presented the diplomas won an the Society's Arts and Crafts Exhibition last year, and also those awarded tho students at the School of Art. The President heartily congratulated those who had won diplomas. I'he diploma was a work of art, and he did not doubt it would be very much appreciated. The etched plate from which the diploma was printed was on view. The awards were not decided on the principles of prizes, but an attempt bad been made to formulate a standard of merit, and it was probable that at tho next exhibition that standard would be considerably raised.
