GOLD MEDAL FOR DR. CHARCOT.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, March 17 Dr. J. B. Charcot has been awarded the French Geographical Society's large gold meda] as a recognition of his Antartic work.

Dr. Charcot has played an important part in French Antarctic explorations. Ho commanded the Francais on ht?r expedition in 1903-5, and in 190S be again went to the Polar Regions, in command of the Pourquoi Pas, returning in 1910. Dr. Charcot has publishod several interesting works dealing with Antarctica, amongst tho best known being "Le Francais dans l'Antarctique," "La. Navigation a la Portee de Tous," and "Publications Scientifi<jues dcs Jixpeditions, 1903-5 et 1908-10."
