Tho Hon. J. A. Millar leaves Dunedin to-day for Wellington.

Mr Oscar Komber, attorney for >ir T. M. Wilford, M.P., has received a cable message from the latter stating that as ho cannot return to the Dominion before June, ho will not be a candidate for tho "Wellington niayoraltv.

Sir Arthur Guinness, M.P., left for Lyttelton by the Mararoa last night. Tho Hon. T. Fergus left for Wellington last night. .Mr W. H. Herries M.P.. is in Wellington at present. He leaves for England in a day or two with Mrs Herrios, who has been in poor health lately. Mr Horries will only have a few days in England. He will leave Mrs Herries there for treatment.

Mr Chas. Louisson, of Palmerston North, who has been on a visit to Christchurch during the past week, returns North this evening. Mr H. P. Stark, for fifteen years manager of tho Grey mouth branch of tho Bank of New South "Wales, has been promoted to tho Sydney office. Mr Stark was presented by thfe townspeople of Greymouth with a handsomo gold watch yesterday. Mr F. H. Smith (Timaru), arrived in town from tho South yesterday.

Arrivals in town include Messrs James Pringlo (Timaru), H. G. Youngman (Queenstown), 51. Gribben (Greymouth), W. and H. E. Coooer (New South Wales), G. W. E. Turner (Reefton).

. Mr W. J. Hueston, of tho Christchurch tramways, who has left to take up a position in connection with tho Invercargill tramways, received a presentation on Friday evening at a largo gathering of employees of tho Christchurch Tramway Board. Messrs G. Joachim (goner'al manasrer of tho Westport Coal Co.), P. C. Neill, C. W. Chamberlain, G. L. Denniston, and J. I. Royrls, were passengers for Wellington by the Mararoa last night.

On Saturday afternoon tho staff of tho Ashburton branch of the Bank of Now Zealnnd presentod the late manager, Mr F. J. Dignan; with a handsome toilet*set on his final denarture to take un another important position in tho service of the bank.
