As a result of tho Stagpoole case tln» Teachers' Institute has to pay Court costs 80 guineas and its own costs, estimated nt £3GO, besides a special fee of 2£s daily awarded to Mr Pirani, chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, in addition to ■ personal expenses. Tho latter is unusual, and was not applied for. It is estimated that the Sta.gpoole appeal case- will cost £500, and h flaw of this great expense which is attached to teachers' appeals, Mr Pining cl.-.ir-man of the Wanganui Education Board. proposes to recommend 'ho desirability of altering the procedure cs regards the dismissal of teachers hv setting iip a special committee for each case, whose duty it will bo to hold an investigation at "which the teachers may bo present in person or by proxy., and shall hear the evidence. Only aft*r such committee reports to the Board shall action bo taken.
