NEW SOUTH WALES RAILWAYS.
GOVERNMENT AND COMMISSION-
ER AT VARIANCE
United __es3 Association—By Electrio Telograpli—Copyright. SYDNEY, March 1. Strained relations aro existing between the Government and the Railway Commissioner on several matters. The Government instructed .the Commissioner to observe an eight hour's day in all grades of the service, but the instruction was not complied with. There is also a disagreement on the question of imported or locally manufactured engines, the Government desiring the latter, and Mr Johnson favouring, importation.
The appointment of the recent Royal Commission to enquire into tho congestion of the Darling Island railway yards is regarded in Labour circles as a censure on Mr Johnson's management.
The Premier admits certain disagreements, but denies that a crisis is at hand.
