THE HATPIN NUISANCE.

TO THB EDITOR Of '*T-_ TRESS." Sir,—l was very much surprised last ovoning, at .Miss Ethel Irving's performance, to see so many large hatpins in evidence. Being a regular attendant at the theatre, I think it is timo something was done to stop largo hats and hatpins. Ono man had one of theso pins stuck into his lip so far that the lip bled most of tho evening; ho can thank his lucky stars it was not his eye. As a woman, I think it timo something was dono to abolish large hats and , hatpins. I have repeatedly had pins stuck into mo by women who think it smart'to havo thoir heads tovored by largo hats. The first night of a play iv Ohristchurcht looks hko "Tho Charge of tho Light Brigade"; only hatpins, instead of bayonets.— ""Yours, etc., PLAYGOER.
