THE AUCKLAND TRAMWAYS TROUBLE.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) . AUCKLAND, December 27. The possibility of cessation of work on the Auckland tramways is not yet remote. According to a statement made to-dny by the Uniou secretary, it - appears that under _the Act the fort- ' night's notice to cease work, which was : given on December Gth; may bo acted 1 u;K>n at.any time, within a month; hence it is necessary that a complete settlement of tho dispute should be jnad*> by January 3rd, in order to avoiil all possibility of a strike. .Certain working conditions and other matters are still unsettled, and tho secretary states that the Union has asked the directors to meet them this week, and, if possible, settle everything.
