SOUTH CHRISTCHURCH SEAT.
' NO SECOND BALLOT. .'. The official count of the votes recorded for the candidates for Parliament in the Christchurch South electorate was finished at an early hour yesterday morning. Tho final figures show ( that M.r Ell polled 44 votes in excess of. an aTx-oluto majority of the valid votes polled, and consequently there is no necessity for a second ballot. The final figures are: — H. G. Ell (G.) ... - ... 3677 G. R. Whiting (Lab.) ... 3051 E. J. Howard (Soc.) ... .636 The differences-between these figures and those published on Friday morning aro that Mr Ell's total lias been increased by 19, Mr Howard's by 1, and Mr Whiting's decreased by 31. Tho invalid voles cast totalled 198. The number,of those who exercised abvoters' permits was 24, and'their votes are included in the result given above.
