FIRES.
On Friday afternoon, at about 2.30, a. four-roomed cottage at Tai Tapu, owned by Mr H. Williamson, storekeeper, was burned down. The place was occupied by Mr G. Read, coachdriver. There was only a small insurance on the building, and none on the furniture, tho whole of which was cornplctely destroyed. (fbess association tel-egkam.) NAPIER, December 9. A seven-roomed residence, belonging to Mr A. McCarthy, in Chaucer rood, was totally destroyed by fire early this morning. Indications point to a defective chimney beint?-the cause. The building was insured for £400 in the Sun office, and the furniture for £200 in the Royal. WANGANUI, December 10. A six-roomed house owned by Charles Drew, of New Plymouth, and occupied by Ernest Jeffarea, -ras destroyed by fire this morning. The furniture was insured for £150. but the insurance on tho building is not available.
