SHIPPING NOTES.

The Shaw, Savill and Albion liaer Athenic, which arrived off the Heads on Sunday night from Wellington, was berthed at the west side of No. 7 wharf yesterday morning. The Athanic is tho first largo overse* liner to take up a berth there amco the alterations have been completed. The big steamer, which left Wellington at 6.30 a.m. on Sunday, encountered tho full - force of tho southerly gale crossing Cook Strait. The steamer was m light trim, and had a rcugh time in the heavy seas, which continued until after Kaikoura was passed. The Athenic will complete discharging here, and after loading what cargo is offering, will leave on Saturday for Port Chalmers, Auckland and Wellington, to complete loading. She is to flail finally from Wel'ington on the ROth inst. for London, via Monte Video, Teneriffe and Plymouth. Tbo Tyser Line steamer Nerchana sailed last night for Dunedin to discharge the balance of her cargo from Glasgow and Liverpool. While at LvHelton tbe vessel lorded 85 bales of wool, 90 casks pelts. 10 casks of tnllow, and on case of plated ware. The Nerehana will complete loading at North T>lnnd ports and will sail finally from Wellington on the 24th inst. for London via Las Talma*. . The Wairuna is expected to arrive here to-morrow night from Newcastle. The vessel lias a full cargo of coal for Lyttelton and Timaru. . The Ccrinna will arrive this morning from Timaru to load for Wellington, Nelson, Now Plymouth nnd Onehunga. She will sail about 2 p.m.. The To Anau will arrive here to-morrow from Timaru. and will go on to Wellington, Picton, • Westport and Greymouth.

The Rakaaioa left Greymouth at 10 o'clock on Saturday night for WeatpsTt, to complete loading a corgj of coal for Lyttelton. Tho voffcl is due here to-morrow "night.

The Wanskas from Bunbury, via Dunedin, is duo here on Thursday morning, to discharge the balance of her cargo of jarrah timber.

The Kaitrana fs due here to-morrow morning from Greymouth, via Timaru, to discharge the hslanca of her cargo of timber.

The schooner Eliza Firth, loaded with produce, was lowed t.ut to an anchorage in the stream yesterday, and will sail with the first fair wind for Kaipara. The Kaiapoi Shipping and Trading Company's steamer Wootten, which has been aground in the river for over a week, with tbe assistance of tho Kairaki, reached tho wharf on -Sunday, and was vecterday discharging hjr cargo of coal. The Kairaki left Kaiapoi yesterday for Lyttelton. Tho Waipori w.-w to leave Greymouth yesterday with a carso of thnbeT for Melbourne and Adelaide. Bh_ will return to New Zealand ports, via Hobart.
