OBITUARY.

MR JOHN MASSEY.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TF.LEOBAM.) AUCKLAND, November 6. Mr John Massey, father of the Leader of the Opposition, died yesterday.

A largo number of friends followed the remains of tho late Mrs J. S. Ashby, who was interred in the Terrace cemetery, Leithfield, on Sunday, October 29." The late Mrs Ashby was tuo eldest daughter of the lato Mr Samuel Vornall, who camo to tho colony in tho ship Sir George Seymour, and tho deceased lady was tho second girl to be born In the province, her birth being on April Ist, 1851. She was married to Sir J. S. Ashby in 1871, and was respected by a number of friends. Tho deceased leaves a family of four sons and three daughters, and sixteen grand-children to mourn their loss.
