A STORMY SITTING

There were violent scenes in the Chamber of Deputies during a discussion on the Socialists' motion to reinstate the railway men. M. Caillaux promised to approach the railway oompanies, but refused to coerce them. He added that though he had agreed with the Socialists regarding democratic reforms, he had never agreed with them in regard to demagogy. Disorder and tumult followed this statement, during which M. Jaures hurled vituperative epithets, at the speaker. The deputies of tSte Extreme Left and the Left shouted at each other, and were with difficulty prevented from coming to blows. The. sitting was suspended. Later a vote of confidence in the Government was. carried by 433 to 86.
