SPRINGS.
The ordinary meeting of the Spiings ( County Council was held on Tuesday, all thb members being present. Hie Receiver of the late Selwyn County Council wrote stating that the committee set up to adjust accounts w< tild meet on the 29th inst. This Council's representative. Mr Wolfe, was advised of same. Paparua County Council wrote asking if this Council would hand over the control of the W : aimakariri water-races in this district to that county, also asking the Council to appoint delegates to meet them in connection therewith. The chairman and Mr McCrostie were appointed. The Acclimatisation -Society wrote asking for tho use of tho weed-cutter in the Lower Selwyn. Not having done all that is required in the river, tho Council would not make any arnuigetuents for moving it out at present. The overseer reported that the concrete culvert at Blandsville was just on completion, but would not be ready for heavy traffic for a month, that tho weed-cutter was working satisfactorily. The Clerk was directed to obtain particulars of, and a supply of, dog collars, the price of which was fixed at 2s 6d for slieep and cattle dogs, and 10s for others. It was retorted that R. Macartney had completed his contract —metalling the Greenpark-Motukarara road—and that, as per arrangemcut, he had carted 500 yards on to the Christ-church-Akaroif- road. It was decided to patch and repair various roach*, and to deepen part of Murray s Dram at Greenpark. William Stephens was reappointed poundkeener and W. GalIlacher ranger (cattle). Accounts amounting to £339 7s lOd were passed for payment, and the meeting closed.
