FEILDING, December 7

His Excellency the Governor visited Foilding to-day, and attended the Boy Scouts' field day demonstrations. Ho was met at the Borough boundary by the Feilding Mounted Rifles and escorted to the Racecourse, whore the field day was being held. After rereceiving an address of welcome from the Mayor and Councillors, His Excellency expressed his pleasure at being "present, and especially at the Boy Scouts' gathering. Ho acknowledged tho welcome from the citizens, and their expressions of loyalty to King and Empire. Addressing the Scouts, he said the movement was a groat Imperial idea — one which would help materially in solidifying the defence of the Empire. The Scouts' laws, discipline, chivalry, and development of the faculty of observation' would develop their character. The Boy Scouts were playing a useful part in the moral nnd physical development of the Empire. Before leaving, his Excellency said he was immensely pleased with tho Scout items ho had seen, and he would be pleased to visit Feilding on a future occasion. During his visit to this district this week Lord Islington' is staying three nights at "Highden," the residence of the late Hon. W. W. Johnston, as the guest of 31 rs Johnston.
