Tho Executive Committee of the recently formed Farmers' Political Protection Party met, for the first time, yesterday afternoon to discuss the question of tho organisation of the farmers in Canterbury.

Mr 0. F. Clothier,- Hawarden, was selected chairman, and Mr C. 11. Eiv sor, White Rock, honorary treasurer. Mr W. F. Hilson was appointed secretary nro tern, and he was also authorised to receive money subscribed to tho scheme, a large sum having alread" boon promised by, and received trorn, supporters. Several names of suitable organisers were mentioned, and a substantial offer was mado to ono of these, a farmer, who is considered to be one of the most competent men for the purpose in the Dominion. Strong expression was given to the necessity for combatting the impression existing in the minds of some that the Party is purely a political one in place of its being 'simply "a combination to educate the rank and file of the farming community to tho danger that is looming ahead in tho leaven of Socialism that is creeping into the politics of the country."
