PRODUCTION OF A NEW FRUIT.

One of tho most interesting features of tho fortnightly show of the Royal Horticultural recently (says a London paper) was a new fruit, which. had been given the name of "Hailshainberry.' . This novelty has been produced by Mr W. Knight, of Hailsham, from tho raspberry and the loganberry, the latter being itself a hybrid. It is claimed for tho new fruit that it is as sweet as tho finest raspberry, and entirely free- from tho acidity of the loganberry. In appearance and colour it resembles tho raspberry, but differs from it in the way it grows, inasmuch as it speivds itself all over tho branches of tho plant, instead of being confined to on© cane. Its chief feature is tEat it can be grown out in the open at this time of the- year, whereas the raspberry season proper has long since. gone by.
