LEESTON.
Tlir stiff nor'-west wind on Friday made things very -unpleasant at Lee-ton Miie, thero bfing clouds of dust flyinp in all directions. The unanimous opinion of farmers that rain is badly needed in aJmost all parte of the district. Farmers living on tho higher and iight-er lands report a scarcity of feed, ivhile the weather has not l;xon too favourable for the eereai crops. A welcome shower of rain fell on Friday night, but it was not sufficifiu to do much good beyond laying the dust. The oontimied dry weather is affectinc; the creameries, the shortago of grass being keenly felt in some ptace-s. Lambs are somewhat backward for this time of the year.
