HARBOURS AMENDMENT BILL.

In the House, after tho Telegraph Office closed at 2 a.m., when consideration of the clauses of tho Harbours Act Amendment Bill had been concluded, Mr .MASSEY moved to amend tho schedule by reducing the Government nominees on the Auckland Harbour Board from two to one. Mr Hi-BRIES suggested that tho Minister should postpone consideration of the schedule, to allow him to como to some agreement with tho members on this point. Mr Massey's amendment was agreed to by 40 votes to 18. Mr MILLAR suggested that if tho number of members on the Auckland Board was to be reduced from 14 tela, all the other Boards should be reduced by one. On a division the Minister's amendment to reduce the number of members was rejected by 31 to 27. Progress was then reported, and the House rose at 2.45 a.m.
