ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET.

The attendance was small at the weekly stock sale held at Tinwald yards yesterday, and .the various departments wero represented as follows:—2s4 fat ewes, 186 fat wethers, and 593 store sheep, totalling 1034. Tho bulk of the yarding in tho fat pens was of poor quality, and prices for anything hut prime quality showed a decline on previous rates. Ewes made up to 20s, wethers to 21s Gd, shorn ewes to 12s, and shorn wethers to 14s. Prices obtained wero as follow:—Prime butchers' ewes 15s 3d to 18s Id, extra heavy 20s, medium quality 12s to 14s 3d, others 10s 3d to lis 9d; Bhorn ewes, lis 9d to 12s; prime butchers' wethers, 16s Bd to 18s 6d, extra prime 20s to 21s (id, others 13s 8d to 14s lOd; shorn wethers. 13s 8d to 14s. Principal sales were:—Ewes: 28 crossbreds, 14s. Id to 14s 2d; 35 ditto, Ior: 25 shorn, lis 9d to 12s. Wethers: 46 halfbreds, 16s 6d; 56 shorn, 13s lOd to 14s. There was a fairly good demand for the small yarding of store sheep, and with two exceptions the yarding changed hands. Sales were:—62 broken-mouth half bred ewes and 64 lambs (all counted) at 8s Bd, 92 two and four-tooth halfbred Avethcrs (very forward) at 16s 2d, 05 broken-mouth halfbred ewes and 75 lambs (all counted) at 9s, 6 four and six-tooth halfbred ewes and 9 lambs (all counted) at lis Id, 34 two, four, six and eight-tooth crossbred ewes, in lamb, at ISs, 97 broken-mouth crossbred ewes and 112 lambs (all counted) at 8s lld, 33 sound and failing-mouth halfbred .we.. and 50 lambs (all counted) at 8s 6d, 10 rams at 9s.

There wa X only a small yarding of fat cattle, and the demand keen, fat cows making £9 12s Gd to £10 15s, fat heifers £5 17s 6d te £9. The yarding of store cattle was large, but with the exception of spring* th there was littlo demand. Springers, cow K £5 7s f_d to £8 15s, heifers £4 15s to £8 17s 6d, storo heifers £2 15s to £3 2s Gd. store steers £2 Its.
