WOMENS CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was hel don Wednesday, Mrs Cole presiding. Proposals for increasing the circulation of tho Union's magazine, tho "White Ribbon," were discussed, and arrangements were made for co-operat-ing in the forthcoming mission to be conducted by Dr. Henry. An address on "Peace and Arbitration" was rp'ven by the superintendent of work in that department. At the close of tho paper, which wa.s much appreciated, the following resolutions wert> unanimously passed:—"This Union desires to express its deep sympathy with Queen Alexandra and "the members of the Royal Family in the crest bereavement they have Flittered by the death of the late King Edward, tho Peacemaker." "This Union wishes to place on record it* appreciation of the late King Edward's efforts to promote peace and goodwill between the nations of Europe, and his desire to forward tho best interests of the people over whom he was called to reign. The Union also prays that his successor, George V., may follow in this and other respects the excellent example of his illustrious father." Tne Christchurch Union has recently passed the silver jubilee of its existence The occasion was celebrated by a most successful "At home." which was very largely attended by the members and friends of tho Union.
