COUNTY COUNCILS.

WAIMATE. At the last meeting of the Waimoto County Council, it was resolved that Sir W. J. Steward, M.P., be written to, drawing his attention to the unsatisfactory mode of voting at local elections by marking a cross opposite the name of the candidate voted for instead of striking out the name of the candidate not voted for, and that his assistance be asked towards getting the law amended in that direction.
