RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES.

Monday. Heavy Tain continued to fall yesterday, and when- operations commenced this morning there was no sign of it breaking. The tracks are in a heavy state, and the tan was the only one open. Most of the trainers were, however, content to jog about the middle, and very little work was got through, a few venturing as fast as half-pace on the tan. The course proper will be thrown open to-morrow for horses engaged at the meeting, and trainers will no doubt avail themselves of the privilege to give their charges a good pipeopener.
