THURSDAY COMPETITIONS. The Thursday competitions, inaugurated by the Canterbury Centre, commenced yesterday, four greer.s being occupied. The matches are confined to two rinks from each club. On the St. Albans green a club champion rink match was played on Wednesday evening. Tho holders (W. J. Crcsswell, Hobbs, Le Cren. and Parsons) were beaten by the challenging rink (Davidson, Brown, Nicholson, and Johnston), the holders being three down on the last head. McGallon's rink, the holders of the Throp badgcß (Sydenham club), again defended themselves from a challenging rink, skipped by Spiller, and won by 20 points to 17, after a very interesting game. Tho next challengers will be Mitchell's rink. St. Albans and Sydenham, by mutual arrangement, will not meet in tho A pennant on Saturday, but a friendly club match will be nlayed on the Sydenham green. The following will represent Linwood against United in the B pennant on Saturday next, at 2.15, on the Linwood green: — T. A. Cherry, C. J. Morrison, F. Redpath, J. R. Brunt (skip); J. Price, J.
