The tracks at Riccarton are in a very heavy state in coneequence of the heavy rainfall, and it will probably be Thursday morning beforo they are fit for fast work again. Nyland's owner intended keeping the Finland geldinjc in the Stewards' Handicap, but unfortunately his acceptance arrived too late to be effective. Sandetream and Forest have arrived at Riccarton, and the Cup candidate looks in the pink of condition. Mr T. H. Lowry's team for the C.J.C. Meeting will comprise Bobrikoff. Downfall, Chartreuse, War Song, Multiple and Kohinoor. They are due at-Riccarton in the course of a few days. California will fulfil his engagement* at tho Masterton R..C. Meeting on Thursday, after which he will be shipped to Riccarton. Mundic and Kairoma, both of whom claim engagements at the C.J.C. Sprinjr Meeting, arrived from Australia la*t week in H. Hiekey's care. Tho former in a certain starter in the Stewards' Handicap. ■Arthur Oliver was expected tack for the C.J.C. Meeting to ride North East nnd other horace in their Riecnrton engagement*. H« cabled on Friday, however, stating that h© intended to remain for the V.R.C. Meetinß. Oliver had. several ride* at Caalfieldy wbere Ronald Cameron, another New Zealnnder, was on D. J. The defunct Sandringhem stallions Persimmon . and Florisel 11. have sired five of them, St. Simon got one, Robert Ie Diable two, and Cyllene, Gallinule, Orvieto, and Thrust the remainder.
