THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
(special to "the press. ")
WELLINGTON. Ootobor 4
Mr F. Waymouth, of Christchurch, who arrived here to-day from London, expressed the opinion that the recent low orices of our frozen meat in the English market were the result of an unusual combination of circumstances. There had been increased importations at a time when Great Britain was not in a position to absorb even the normal supplies. Tho bad times in Great Britain were largely responsible for the slump, because even though meat was as cheap as twopence a pound, a roan could not buy it if h© had not th© necessary twopence. In Glasgow alone there were thirty thousand unemployed. Mr Waymouth is not pessimistic in regard to the American Meat Trust competition. The American Trust, like New Zealand, had suffered in consequence of tho depressed market. As to a. revival in British trade, he had ascertained from business men that there would be no appreciable improvement until there was a change of Government. '
