(PRj-53 ASSOCIATION TELEGBAMB.) AUCKLAND, October 4. Medical evidence regarding the death of the eight-year-old daughter of Frederick W. Leeso showed that death was caused by an irritant poison. Deceased ate a lot of preserved pineajyple, and two other children who oto a smaller quantity were both very ill, but recovered. A fourth child, who did not eat the fruit, wus not ill. The inquest was adjourned to receive the bacteriologist's report. A doctor stated that many people thought they were suffering from ptomaine poisoning when io was really bacterial .poisoning. AUCKLAND, October 4. James Iteedford, a tailor, while shooting with another man from Waipu, was killed by tho accidental discharge of his gun. Death was almost instantaneous. AUCKLAND, October 4. Matthew Ramsey Mclntyre, aged 21, a single man, cabinetmaker by trade, was drowned on Sunday by the capsizing of a small launch off Rangitoto. Mclntyre and four others were fishing a mile off shore. Mclntyre slipped and fell overboard. Efforts to rescue him made by tho other occupants of the launch, capsized her, and all were precipitated into the water. They clung to tho launch till sho sank, and then started to swim ashore. Some Maoris put off in a boat from.the shore and rescued all tho men, but Mclntyre, who was unconscious, never recovered. He was a sergeant in No. 3 Garrison Artillery, and the best gun man in the company. DUNEDIN.- October 4. A single man, named David Ma it, aged about fifty years, was the victim of a serious accident on the railway at Sawyers Bay to-night. Marr, who lives at Port Chalmers, was going homo and as tlie train started from Sawyers Bay station, he either attempted to step off a carriage platform or fell off, with the result that ho was run over, both thighs being badly crushed. Ho was immediately taken to the hospital, where it was found necessary to amputate both legs above the knee.
