At Ashburton on Saturday the National Mortgage and Agency Company offered at auction, on behalf Mr E. F. J. Grigg, 72 acres of his Akanui property, situated near Willowby, and being originally part of the famous Longbeach estate. There was a large attendance, ar.rl though only a_ block of 72 acres was. being offered, keen interest was manifested in the sale. On the Stock Exchange on Saturday the following sales wore reported:— National Hanks £'5 3s, New Zealand Shipping £", Westnort-Stockton 8s Gd, Sharland Preference 18s, Wards Brewery £4 IU, and Talismans £2 os 9d. Buyers of Wellington Gas, new issue, put Tip their offor<; to 16s 6d premium, which induced holders to come forward at 17s 6d, whilst for t'he fully paids there were sellers at £17 10s. Bank of New Zi-aland were ea&ier at £8 10s, sellers, with buyers at 2s 6d less.
