LICENSING COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.

The following bare been nominated for the Licensing Committee for tibie Ellesmere District: —'Messrs W. 'B. Andrew, G. Armstrong, M. Barclay, J. Barnett, M. Dixon, R. Latter, C.'L. Milne. The following were nominated and declared elected: —Rev. M. Gibson, Messrs J. Sinclair, A. Garland, N. Franc's, and W. Gardener.

GISBORJfIB, March 2. There will be contests at the Licensing Committee elections in th© Bay of Plenty and the Gisborne electorates. In tho Bay of Plenty eight nominations have been received. In Gisborn.©, it had been decided in a conference between the liquor and No-license parties to avoid a contest, with the object of saving the local bodies the expense of an election, and tho Trades and Labour Council, which had intended nominating a candidate, fell in with this idea, but* few minutes before the closing time five independents were nominated, making eleven candidates now in the field. NAPIER, March 2. Only the old members of the Licensing Committee were nominated, rendering an election unnecessary. HASTINGS, March 2. The Hawke's Bay Licensing Committee has been re-noaijoated, and no ejection will be necessary. NELSON, March S. Twelve candidates have been, nominated for the five seats on the Nelson Licensing Committee. The No-licenao party nominated Messfs N. McLaren and Pottit, the Rev. B. L. Thomas, and Mr R. Watson. Tho moderates nominated Messrs A. Grace, R. Hunter." JC. Mercer, P. Best, and F. Trask.. The other candidates axe Messrs H. Atmore, J. E. Bartlet?t_ and W. Coleman. Messrs Atmore, Best, Coleman, and Trask axe members of the present .committee, seeking re-election. WELLINGTON, March 2. A licensing election will_ be necessary in the Hutt district, but in Wellington City the No-license ticket has been declared elected in the absence of any other nominations. In Wellington Suburbs and Wellington South, both of which electorates have carried Nolicer.se, no nominations have been made for the committee.
